Ranier + Trevor

Wanna get some inspiration for a rad, adventurous, totally southwest wedding? Look no farther than Ranier and Trevor’s special day! Early morning mountain vows, mountain ceremony, and secret garden reception with a live band.

Season: Summer
Style: Adventure

These are a few of my favorite things:

That Southwest Feelin’

Ranier + Trevor loved the southwest, and it showed! From turquoise necklaces, cuffs, and bolos to signing skis as their guestbook, R + T’s big day had a heartbeat of Colorado culture, and it was so fun to see! The overall feel for the day was very laid back but also celebratory. Guests weren’t stressed; they were here to party! The ceremony was in the heart of the mountains with a killer view of Engineer Mountain. That was followed up by the reception at the Rochester and their magical secret garden.

Grooviest live Music

The lead singer of the band is the bride’s sister, and it was so special. Live music is always a major game-changer when it comes to the party. They feed off the crowd, and in turn, the crowd gets energized from the band, and it is this awesome cycle that leads to an epic dance floor. But having a band that knew the couple and their family and friends made it even more special. Not to mention, Desiderata can get anyone up and grooving. The bride’s mom and dad are also in a band so it was the sweetest surprise when the mom got up and sang a special song she wrote just for Ranier.

Dessert spread

R + T didn’t just stop at cake; they had an AMAZING dessert spread from a family friend who bakes in Silverton. It is so fun to see guests’ reactions when they realize they don’t just have one cake for dessert, but a whole spread. The glorious culinary creations from Flour Patch included maple chai cookies, brown butter maple cheesecake, Earl Grey and orange shortbread cookies, pumpkin cheesecake with pecan cookie crust (GF), and my personal favorite, strawberry jam sugar cookies.

Sarah + Jeremy

Season: Summer
Style: Unique

These are a few of my favorite things:

“Will You Marry Me?” and “I Do!” in the same spot

Jeremy asked Sarah to marry him at the Lion’s Den in Durango.  It became an obvious spot for their ceremony as well. It looks over the city of Durango up through the northern valley—a great place in case of rain too, with the adjacent rustic pavilion nearby.  They got married under blue skies in front of an arch, handmade by the groom, decorated with fabric, flowers, and a pair of antlers. It was breathtaking!

Let the Party Begin, and Keep Going...

The Rochester Hotel made a lovely site for their reception. Just 8 minutes away from the Lion’s Den, the picturesque courtyard, indoor and outdoor bars, and the hotel, completely rented out to wedding guests, made for the perfect staycation celebration! The Peeples Bar at the Rochester is also available to rent for the afterparty, which they did, allowing festivities to move inside for the rest of the evening.

Let Them Eat Cake...Or Not?

Not every wedding needs to have a traditional wedding cake.  Sarah and Jeremy chose to bypass tradition in favor of a smorgasbord of desserts, which included mini kouign amann, mini ginger cookies, mini oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, mini blueberry "Pop-Tarts", mini chocolate fudge "Pop-Tarts", mini red velvet bundt cakes, and mini gluten-free brownies. Delicious either way!
