The Rochester Hotel is a historic, newly renovated, midcentury-modern boutique property in the heart of downtown Durango. Its intimate garden courtyard and high-end craft cocktail bar create an elevated experience designed specifically for micro weddings, rehearsal dinners, elopements, and intimate reception-only celebrations.

Thanks to the lodging buyout policy, couples enjoy the feeling of having their own private downtown hotel for the weekend. It is a built-in luxury that naturally creates connection, ease, and a sense of exclusivity. The Rochester is intentionally crafted for couples who value atmosphere, design, and meaningful time with their closest people.

  • "We hosted a wedding ceremony here. It was incredible. Not only is the venue beautiful; two century old trees, flowers, greenery, etc but the staff was incredible. They didn’t miss any notes, drinks were tasty, no stress, anything we needed we got it. We had about 40 people + minimal staff. We reserved 1 of the rooms for the bride, it was updated, clean nice, quaint, and cute."

  • The Rochester hosts outdoor events May 15 through October 15 each year. Exact booking windows are subject to change depending on weather and team judgements around creating a quality experience for our guests. The Rochester is currently booking 2026 and 2027

  • Wedding capacity:  50 guests for best fit

    Non-Wedding capacity: Come and go event (graduation, art reception, concert): Up to 120

    Overnight lodging capacity: Up to 36 guests

    • Exclusive use of the Garden Courtyard, stage and outdoor bar 

    • Indoor Peeples bar available to guests (open to the public unless additional buyout) 

    • Folding tables and chairs for up to 50 guests plus additional existing patio and lounge furniture

    • Basic speaker and microphone system for speeches and background music 

    • Venue manager support throughout planning

    • A stylish historic-meets-modern backdrop that needs very little added décor

  • For any evening celebration exceeding 25 guests, a 2-night lodging buyout is required. The buyout includes all 15 rooms accommodating 36 guests. This gives you your own private hotel for the weekend and creates the intimate, connected atmosphere The Rochester is known for.

    Evening celebrations are classified as all events beginning after 3:00 PM. Daytime events (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM) will not require a lodging buyout.

    Couples may elect to cover the full cost of lodging independently or may cost-share with guests.

  • Our courtyard is primarily designed for outdoor dinner receptions. The Rochester can accommodate very small ceremonies if timing and layout allow, but most couples choose a nearby ceremony location and return to The Rochester for cocktails and a garden dinner.

  • Yes. The Rochester offers options for intimate rehearsal dinners and brunches based on layout and availability.

  • To keep your event elevated and seamless, The Rochester requires:

    • Rochester bar package (no outside bartender or alcohol allowed)

    • Day-of Coordinator (for weddings or elopements)

    • Event Liability Insurance

  • The Rochester is an outdoor-focused venue.

    The creation of a weather-appropriate backup plan that aligns with your vision is highly encouraged. No refunds are given in the case of inclement weather.

  • Yes. Rooms 106 and 107 are pet-friendly, and leashed pets are welcome in the Secret Garden courtyard. Pet owners are responsible for controlling, managing and cleaning up after all pets on site. All pets must be leashed at all time
